Notes
These two acoustic demos received posthumous release on the 2004 With The Lights Out box-set. Although the box-set booklet credits both demos as having been recorded in 1993, this label is widely disputed among collectors.
The lyrical content of the Serve The Servants demo seems more playful and less autobiographical than that recorded at Pachyderm Recording Studio, February 12-26, 1993. Cobain can be heard strumming his Martin D-18E, purchased in the Fall of 1992 (he is believed to have written the song earlier that same year, on his Mid '60s Sunburst Fender XII electric 12-string). (58)
Both the lyrics and arrangement of the Very Ape demo appear to significantly pre-date that recorded at BMG Ariola Ltda., January 19-21, 1993; Cobain inelegantly cuts in mid-song with a vocal guide of the chorus melody.
Despite appearing alongside each other on the box-set, it is unclear whether these home demos were in fact recorded together.
