Burroughs & Kurt Cobain - The "Priest" They Called Him) • Jam Cobain recorded a 26-minute long piece of music, of which only a portion was used for this release. Notes Cobain records a guitar soundscape to accompany William S. Burroughs recital The "Priest" They Called Him; the collaboration having been orchestrated by mutual friend and Tim/Kerr records owner, Thor Lindsay. Lindsay had gifted Cobain with an autographed first edition of Burroughs' Naked Lunch, for which Cobain later thanked him in the liner notes to Incesticide, That literally became his bible, pretty much is what he stated. (1) Then [Kurt] wanted to talk to Burroughs, so I gave him William's number. He told me, If there's any kind of idea about me and Burroughs..., and I said, You should do a collaboration. He said, I'd do it in a second! (1) Cobain mailed Lindsay a 26-minute long piece of music, which Lindsay then dutifully forwarded onto Burroughs' assistant, James Grauerholz. When the final package came out, Kurt was overwhelmed. It was just the way he wanted it. (1) Alex Roberts. | |
